HR Supervisor

Location: Ogden, UT
The Role:
  • Will lead and administer areas of employee relations, training and development, staffing, performance management, benefits, compensation & payroll, communication, policy development, workers’ compensation reporting &resolution, and legal compliance for a multi-site manufacturing operation.
  • The incumbent will specifically be the lead HR person for the site, while serving as an integral member of the UTC HR team in assuring that enterprise-wide initiatives are developed and implemented.

Essential Functions:
  • Champion and drive UTC’s Key Principles & Objectives throughout all areas of Universal Trailer
  • Proactively manage headcount to assure proper level of staffing, while assuring strict adherence to budgetary requirements
  • Manages the recruiting, interviewing, and testing of candidates to develop a hiring pool. Works with interview teams to determine best candidates, and with the appropriate manager, through the offer and hiring process
  • Build and develop a highly effective and collaborative HR team
  • Proactively manage the HR function to support the business goals and objectives by developing, recommending and implementing local/regional personnel policies and procedures
  • Prepares and maintains local/regional handbook on policies and procedures
  • Plans, organizes and controls all activities of the local HR department
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems
  • Implements and annually updates compensation program; rewrites job descriptions as necessary; conducts local/regional annual salary surveys and develops merit pool (salary budget); analyzes compensation; monitors the performance evaluation program and revises as necessary
  • Supports company-wide affirmative action program; assist in annual EEO-1 filing; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Conducts new-employee orientations; monitors career-pathing program,employee relations counseling, and exit interviewing
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings, such as seminars. Maintains local/regional company organization charts and employee directory
  • Establishes and maintains all personnel records and reports
  • Proactively partner with leadership to identify organizational, talent, culture or morale opportunities and set the strategy to drive execution against those opportunities
  • Conduct organizational/issue assessments and develop sound, business oriented solutions
  • Recommends and implements new approaches, policies and procedures to assure continual improvements in efficiency of services performed
  • Assists leadership team in developing organizational and site culture, building and reinforcing a positive collaborative team oriented atmosphere focused on solutions and results
  • Provide leadership in the development and maintenance of a positive cultural atmosphere through coaching, training and counseling both salary and hourly employees
  • Identifies local/regional legal, governmental and contractual reporting requirements affecting Human Resources. Assures policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance
  • Manages all corrective actions, disciplinary procedures, terminations and other employee affairs to ensure they are conducted legally and ethically
  • Maintains records of benefits plans participation, personnel transactions and employee statistics for government and corporate reporting
  • Implement and utilize HR metrics to measure performance
  • Manages all activities relating to the administration and maintenance of payroll and paid time off programs
  • Administers benefits programs (i.e., life, health, dental and disability insurance,pension plans, vacation, sick leave, leave of absence, and FMLA)
  • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices
  • Works as part of the site safety organization, assisting in the investigation of accidents and preparation of reports for insurance carrier
  • Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation
  • Prepares reports and actively participates in activities to reduce absenteeism and turnover
  • Represents Company at HR related hearings and investigations
  • Contracts with various outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as vending services or recruiting
  • Assure compliance and data integrity for internal HRIS data management and payroll system

Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources management or related field (Required)
  • Graduate degree, and professional certification (Preferred)
  • 2 years of recruiting and retain, training and onboarding staff (Required)
  • Understand Laws and regulations of UTAH (Required)
  • 2 years of being savvy with employee relations (Preferred)
  • 2 years of manufacturing experience (Preferred)
  • Must be a strong team builder, with an ability to influence without formal authority
  • 5+ years HR management experience, with at least two years of site HR leadership responsibility of managing people in a production environment
  • Both non-union and union experience (Preferred)
