CNC Setup Operator

Location: Hudson, NH
Title: Level 1 & 2 Setup Operator
1st Shift: 7-3:30 pm Monday-Friday
2nd shift: 3:15-1:45 am - Monday-Thursday
Title: Level 1 & 2 Setup Operator
Reports To: Team Lead

Employee must be willing and able to perform all duties required of Level I and Level II Operators in addition to those listed below.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Receive traveler from the Team Lead, gather tool kit, download the correct program to the machine, set-up the designated machine, and run first piece for Quality Assurance (“QA”) approval
  • Set up machine in a sound and proficient manner according to Layout Sheet provided
  • Ensure a DPPM of less than 1,250 for you and your operators
  • Keep a tidy and organized work area
  • Follow all C&M Safety Rules and Guidelines
  • Follow all guidelines within the C&M Handbook
  • Be dependable and accountable
  • Communicate accurately and honestly in an open, candid, and respectful manner at all times

Skills / Qualifications / Requirements:
Production
  • Receive traveler from the Team Lead, gather tool kit, download the correct program to the machine, set-up the designated machine, and run first piece for Quality Assurance (“QA”) approval
  • Determine when inserts need to be changed
  • Change inserts and various tooling in a timely fashion with no supervision
  • Follow verbal instruction
  • Have a firm understanding of hand tools
  • Evaluate any unusual sights or sounds and report to the Team Lead if you cannot eradicate
  • Fundamental understanding of controls on various machines
  • Basic comprehension of programs, with the ability to generate edits
Quality
  • Ability to use basic measuring tools (Micrometers, Verniers, drop indicators, plug gages, ring gages, pin gages, and thread gages)
  • Follow established quality policies
  • Accurately fill in data for the QA Sheet and verify completeness based on part print
  • Accurately report the number of good parts made per shift as well as scrap per shift
  • Identify and resolve product defects
  • Report defects to the Team Lead
Maintenance
  • Clean or replace screens, traps, and filters when necessary
  • Remove chips from the machine
  • Wipe down machines, mop work area, and report machine leaks to your supervisor
  • Follow good housekeeping and take proper care of equipment and tooling
  • Remove bar remnants
  • Ability to disassemble, clean, and reassemble guide bushings, collets and sub spindle components
  • Check machine oil levels (cutting fluids, way lube, and bar feeder oil)
  • Troubleshoot bar feeder issues that may arise
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting, carrying and pushing heavy objects
  • Twisting and bending
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Ability to see clearly
