Maintenance Worker

Location: Scotts Valley, CA
This role will perform repair & maintenance for an array of technical and non technical duties across school properties, ensuring timely resolution in accordance with school policies and procedures.

Responsibilities for role of Maintenance Worker:
  • Performs both rough (i.e. framing, sheetrock, form work, steps and ramps) and finish (i.e. cabinet making, tables, shelves, hanging doors and drywall, installing trim, paneling, siding and insulation) carpentry.
  • Repairs dry-rot damage to subfloors and roofs.
  • Performs concrete work (forming, pouring, and finishing) and repairs stucco.
  • Assembles, installs and repairs copper, galvanized and PVC lines, sewer and drain lines, faucets, toilets, sinks, drinking fountains and a variety of valves.
  • Connects water and sewer lines to main utility sources.
  • Inspects, repairs and maintains water supply and drainage and sewer lines.
  • Repairs and maintains plumbing by repairing leaks or breaks, opening clogged lines and drains, replacing washers and other faucet parts.
  • Installs and pulls conduit and wire.
  • Installs and repairs fixtures (i.e. outlets, lights, switches, etc).
  • Installs and maintains sprinkler and drip systems.
  • Performs prep work and paints walls, doors, rooms, buildings and other surfaces.
  • Tapes and textures sheetrock.
  • Installs, repairs and maintains floor tile, acoustical tile, linoleum and carpet.
  • Inspects roofs for leaks and potential leaks and repairs as needed.
  • Repairs and maintains fire and security alarm systems.
  • Reads blueprints and drawings; and prepares rough design sketches.
  • Makes recommendations for new installations and modifications to buildings and grounds.
  • Consults with outside contractors and specialists to obtain/relay information and assist with projects where needed.

Requirements for the role of Maintenance Worker.
  • 2+ year of Maintenance Worker experience.
  • Experience repairing and maintaining plumbing.
  • Experience Laying & repairing flooring.
  • Experience with Sprinkler drip systems- installation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Active & Clean Drivers license.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
