Position Overview: 
Our client's Staffing Technology group leverages emerging technologies and user experience design principles to create visionary products and services that improve how people find employment and hire talent.  As the technology division for the company's innovation engine, they provide expertise to the rest of the firm on new tools and techniques, while also incubating potential products and services.


Responsibilities: The Senior Software Engineer role at Aquent is a position in the Staffing Technology group focused on creating and enhancing web applications to support and provide online features and applications to our internal staffing business, job seekers, and clients.  The Senior Software Engineer is part of a larger cross-departmental team that includes product development, project management, design, research, and quality assurance.  Senior engineers are leaders within the team and also provide architectural and engineering mentorship and guidance to other team members. The role reports to the Agile Development Manager.

 
The Senior Software Engineer is responsible for:
 
  • Participation in team planning and Agile software development meetings
  • Design and architecture of web applications
  • Product extensions and maintenance on existing products
  • Implementing new end-user-facing web application features, including all layers of those features from database design and development, server-side processing, and applying front-end technologies to handle interactivity and styling.
  • Designing and implementing data structures and ensuring data integrity
  • Implementing integrations with third-party services and application components
  • Applying best-practice security principles to avoid web application security issues
  • Performing and participating in team code reviews
  • Implementing automated tests of the software
  • Participating in team retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement
  • Leading team technical discussions
  • Mentoring junior team members
  • Pursuing continuous learning
  • Advising on technical solutions to be implemented by other engineers.
