Manager, Accounting

Location: El Segundo, CA, United States
Overview:
Responsible for overseeing the following areas within General Accounting: banking, general ledger, stand-alone financial statements and other management reports for HealthCare Partners, Ltd., Memorial Medical Group, Magan, Camden, HPPN, HealthCare Partners Medical Group, Inc. (Company 900). Manages the day-to-day operations of the area and the training, supervision and review of Accounting staff assigned to duties within the function.
 
Essential Functions:
  • Develops and maintains department systems and workflows to generate accurate and timely monthly and year-end financial statements, management and compliance reports for HCP.
  • Reviews and approves monthly trial balance, journal entries, account analyses and supporting schedules prepared by Staff Accountant.
  • Prepares routing and ad hoc schedules, statements, reports and analyses as necessary.
  • Manages department performance by participating in the annual budget process and the formulation of department policies, procedures and standards.
  • Identifies areas for streamlining processes involving staff and systems resources.
  • Provides support for year-end audit process.
  • Uses, protects, and discloses HCP patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
 
EDUCATION: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college 
  • Degree in Accounting
  • CPA Required (will consider candidates that have some CPA exams already completed.)
 
EXPERIENCE:
 Minimum:
  • Over 5 years and up to and including 7 years of experience.
  • High volume journal entry review experience (180+ entries a month).
  • Must come from a large corporate company ($500 million+ in revenues.)
  • Proficient in Excel and Access.
  • Expreince accounting systems like: SAP, MS Dynamics, Great Plains, Lawson, Oracle...etc.
  • Experience working in a fast paced high-volume environment.
  • Some exposure to Revenue Cycle is HIGHLY preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
 
Preferred:
  • SQL
  • Healthcare industry

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 
  • Computer literate.
  • In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, management and financial policies, and tax regulations.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with staff and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and use independent judgment.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff.
