Production Lead - Specialized Functions

Position Overview:
Bayer has an exciting opportunity available for a Production Lead focused in ESH, Quality/Compliance & Continuous Improvement. This position will be located in Kearney, NE, reporting to the Site Lead.
This role is a member of the Site Leadership Team. The qualified individual will lead and develop the teams accountable for the Environmental, Health, Safety (ESH), Occupational Medicine (OM) and Quality supporting the plant and field operations at the site. The successful candidate develops and implements a site strategy that ensures adequate attention to all compliance programs in conjunction with the Site Leadership and provides overall direction for ESH, OM and Quality ensuring compliance and continuous improvements of these programs. This individual will also have oversight for the implementation of the Monsanto Production System (MPS). The Production Lead has responsibility within a large manufacturing operation for direct supervision of site personnel, which may include managers, associates, specialists, coordinators and technicians. This individual gets results through high personal proficiency, delegation of tasks, coordinating the work of others, developing/coaching individuals, developing the team, customer centricity/outreach and collaborating regionally to innovate and improve.
The Production Lead maintains a strong relationship with Corporate Personnel: Crop Leadership, ESH Generalists & Leads, and Occupational Medicine Lead, Quality Assurance and Quality Control organizations within Product Supply. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the strong ability to team and influence productively, develop site level strategy, lead change and drive culture effectively, enable change in our business and programs quickly, and leverage the talents, skills and resources of their direct reports, peers and leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Champion the development, implementation, and improvement of an ESH, OM, Quality, and MPS
  • Drive ESH & Quality operational improvements, metrics tracking and implementation of best practices through team members and peers
  • Provide leadership, direction and support necessary to assure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations.
  • Enable appropriate training, documentation, & monitoring capabilities to ensure standard and optimal procedures are followed in the programs of ESH, OM, and QMS
  • Utilize data when driving strategic decisions
  • Drive a culture that is dedicated to ESH, OM, & Quality
  • Identify, leverage, share and implement best practices/continuous improvement across NA sites
  • Report the performance of the ESH, OM, & Quality programs within the site to company leaders and stakeholders
  • Provide oversight of processes related to ESH, OM, product quality, & compliance in cooperation with seed production management and other stakeholders including but not limited to the global and regional Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams, Global ESH and Regulatory functions
  • Gain all external certifications & accreditations and assure complete adherence to quality, stewardship and compliance policies, processes, and requirements
  • Adherence to governmental rules and regulations as part of OSHA, Worker Protection Safety and Monsanto ESH initiatives
  • Represents and contribute to the site's involvement to cultivate trust in the community

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6+ years experience in a manufacturing, agricultural, ESH, OM, quality, engineering, technical, or related environment
  • Results oriented leadership approach
  • Experience coaching and developing others
  • Proven track record of program development and implementation to gain results
  • Capability to clearly present information and influence others through verbal or and written communications
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while exhibiting situational judgment
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Experience with agriculture, seed manufacturing, safety, quality, or related area
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people or teams through change
  • Experience in working and/or leading in a matrix environment
  • Computer proficiencies to include SAP
  • Knowledge of process improvement principles such as Lean, Six Sigma
