Lead Software Engineer

Location: Boston, MA, United States
Position Overview: 
This role will be part of larger team developing a centralized application for our suite of Public Relations and Digital Media solutions. These solutions not only reach and engage media, investors, employees and key stakeholders and allow our customers to gain actionable insights into the performance of their business communications, but also broadcast high-profile client webcasts.  West represents over 3,000 companies worldwide, with 63% being Fortune 500 companies.

Day to day responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:
  • Leads development team activities and projects to ensure tasks are performed efficiently and with high quality standards
  • Leads and participates in business meetings to identify objectives and develop a solution that will meet the company’s current and future objectives and needs
  • Leads and participates in developing a comprehensive and logical test plan to ensure appropriate tools and established standards are utilized
  • Lead the research, design and development of new application enhancements
  • Write design and project requirements which may include both preliminary and firm estimates of system requirements, benefits, personnel, costs, timelines, etc. for review by management
  • Lead the testing and evaluation of system requirements and enhancements, documenting findings for management and recommending solutions
  • Monitor and conduct regression testing in its entirety to ensure negative impacts do not result from development; participates in user acceptance testing
  • Code program based on system enhancements, modification requests, or new design specifications 
  • Keep up-to-date on new products, development tools, industry trends, and methodologies for incorporation into company solutions 
  • Serve as an escalation point for program support after implementation, which may include additional training, upgrades, or program enhancements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or a related field is required, Master’s Degree preferred
  • Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements

Experience
  • Minimum of 10 - 14 years of increasingly responsible programming experience using a standard coding language and/or platform
  • Minimum of 2 or more years of experience leading agile development teams on medium to large sized projects preferred
  • Minimum of 2 - 3 years of experience working with cloud native applications and infrastructure
  • Agile/Scrum experience strongly preferred
  • Strong time management skills required
