Distribution Center General Manager

Location: Flanders, NJ
JOB SUMMARY
Ensure efficient and effective distribution and transportation operations while complying with all applicable policy and procedural guidelines and the "Code of Ethical Standards and Business Practices and Conduct."  Foster an environment where accountability is expected, while facilitating development and innovation necessary to ensure the Company's competitive advantage.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Have excellent conceptual knowledge of volume flows and resource capabilities.  Must understand the essential elements of DC, E-Commerce and Transportation operations, and have access to facts necessary to drive results and make sound decisions.
  • Develop budgets and manage expenses in a conservative manner without risking sales, customer service, or the life of physical assets.
  • Communicate the Company's vision and illustrate specific areas where the DC contributions are necessary to ensure success.
  • Commit to service the stores and address the individual store needs while adhering to policy and budgetary constraints.
  • Provide all members of the leadership team with opportunities to improve skill sets and expand areas of responsibility.  Measure progress and reward top performers by assigning positions that reflect their potential. Identify key associates that can fill roles and provide training to improve bench strength.
  • Ensure that all processes, procedures, policies regarding operations, service, safety, human resources, along with local, state, and federal laws are followed so as not to expose the company to any unnecessary risk or loss.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering and/or equivalent work experience. 
  • MBA is a plus
  • 5 - 10 years of management experience in high volume, multi-shift, automated distribution or manufacturing operation.
  • Budget/Sales Responsibility.
  • Management/Supervisory experience required.
  • Specific technical training (i.e., CPA, Engineer, etc.)
  • Solid communication skills, computer skills (Microsoft applications), interpersonal skills, analytical and math skills, problem-solving resolution, intervention skills, and organizational skills
