Senior Payroll Tax Analyst

Position Overview: 
The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst will be responsible for processing and reconciling all payroll tax activity for U.S. and Canadian payrolls across multiple pay cycles and multiple legal entities. The Senior Payroll Tax Analyst will be responsible for North American payroll tax administration, including research and analysis of payroll related tax laws; payroll tax deposits and reporting; communication with Federal, State and Local jurisdictions and authorities. Supports the payroll team in the accurate and timely payment and reporting of payroll taxes for multiple legal entities in U.S., Canada, and Mexico.


 
Responsibilities: 
  • Maintains accurate records of tax withheld, payments & reporting
  • Prepares withholding, unemployment, and other payroll related tax returns
  • Works with federal, state, and local tax agencies on audit requests 
  • Maintains and adheres to schedule of payments & reporting
  • Monitors system controls of tax calculations
  • Prepares and carries out investigations into tax issues
  • Provides tax calculation explanation to employee inquiries
  • Works closely with payroll accountants in ensuring accurate liability validation.
  • Maintains related accounting information
  • Reviews and confirms accuracy of W2 data at year-end and communicates any changes or issues with ADP and various tax authorities
  • Prepares and initiates payroll tax funding requests
  • Manages new local and state accounts for wage and tax reporting purposes
  • Conducts tax register adjustments
  • Maintains up-to-date account registrations with taxing authorities
  • Seeks out continuous process efficiencies or improvements, solicits team for input and participation
  • Understands the end-to-end tax functional processes as well as how the tax functional processes integrate with the overall end-to-end payroll processes
 
 
Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience required

Experience
  • 4-5 years of experience working with large volume payrolls and multiple legal entities is required
  • Experience in working in a multi-state environment
  • Knowledge of HCM and ADP, preferred
  • Strong local tax knowledge, including employee set up and reporting strongly preferred (Pennsylvania tax knowledge is a high priority) 
  • Moderate skill-set in using Microsoft Office (especially Excel), required.
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to complete projects timely and accurately
  • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment
