Responsible for working across all levels of organization Corporate and Business Unit Marketing departments to increase Agile acumen property improve speed to market, and standardize and implement processes and best practices to ensure successful adoption of Agile principles, techniques and mindset to achieve the greatest business value. The Agile Coach works with a marketing team to drive the adoption and optimization of Agile practices. The Agile Coach provides mentoring and coaching to Product Team Leads and Marketing Owners, and must be able to correlate learnings to principles and practices with supporting, relevant, real-world examples.
Coach teams, Team Leads and Product Owners on Agile concepts, industry best practices (Release Planning, value and use of relative estimation, incorporating engineering practices and using velocity for planning, etc.) and expected benefits.
Coach teams and Team Leads to create empowered, self-organizing, high-performing teams that continue to improve independently.
Coach teams to create and maintain the mindset of continuous improvement, how to build large and small continuous. improvement into the team’s standard practices, and setting specific goals regularly.
Evaluate and mentor new and experienced Marketing team members on agile methodology, and collaborate with the teams to regularly identify and implement improvements.
Coach the teams on the value and utilization of Team Agreements.
Ensure Agile ceremonies are completed effectively and the value is understood.
Ensure the preparatory activities are consistently in place for successful delivery including a Product Backlog with sufficient, estimated stories with clear acceptance criteria, regular Release Planning sessions, and sprint planning preparation and elaboration sessions.
Coach the Team Leads on creating and maintaining Product Backlogs with stories that are ready for team use.
Mentor Management on how their roles are different in an Agile environment and how they can enable Agile success
Coach the skills and value of creating transparency, and how this accelerates agility.
Coach the team, Product Owner and Team Leads on how to evolve Release Plans as new information emerges. throughout the sprints, and how to communicate updated plans to maintain transparency and stakeholder engagement
Draw from several agile method options to employ a hybrid approach that meets marketing team needs.
Coach the team on the value and methods of developing cross-functional skills.
Stay current with the Agile industry: Read and recommend valuable Lean and Agile books, blogs, articles, etc. to continuously increase the team’s Agile maturity; coach the team on developing a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
College or University degree and experience as a coach (not while also performing other roles such as Scrum Master) in addition to experience as an agile team member or Scrum Master.
Experience with various Agile frameworks and methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, SAFe, etc.) at an advanced level and experience with Agile Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools (JIRA, Rally, VersionOne, etc.) preferred.
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills are required with time management and individual and team building skills. Advanced interpersonal skills that help to establish strong working relationships and promote bi-directional communication within and across teams and programs.
Advanced understanding of methodologies (Agile, SCRUM, Kanban, Lean, Waterfall, etc.) and marketing program deployment including planning, development, quality assurance, change management and release management.
Experience with marketing campaign deployment, advertising planning process and other marketing functions such as public relations and events is preferred.
Advanced skills in facilitation, continuous improvement, empowerment, transparency, building trust and servant leadership.
Able to organize, moderate and demonstrate Agile industry best practices. Ability to apply advanced principles, theories and experiences, and contribute to the development of innovative ideas and practices.
Ability to effectively facilitate discussions at various levels and suggest alternative approaches and effectively manage challenging situations through negotiation and conflict resolution.
Leadership and organizational skills are required to determine the Business Unit's goals, resources needed, and to assess and develop the skills of staff.
